PETER HAIN FORCED TO RESIGN IN THE LATEST CORRUPTION SCANDAL TO HIT THE NEW LABOUR REGIME
Anti-British rabble-rousers of the so-called 'Anti Nazi League'................South African Peter Hain MP
Peter Hain has resigned as Work and Pensions Secretary after the Electoral Commission referred the issue of his deputy leadership campaign irregular donations to Scotland Yard. The news came minutes after the Electoral Commission announced it was referring the affair to the Metropolitan Police, prompting Hain's almost immediate resignation.
Mr Hain said in a statement to the PA: "In view of the Electoral Commission decision today, I will be resigning to clear my name and I will be making a statement shortly." The elections watchdog said it would be up to the Metropolitan Police to decide whether to investigate. But on previous form (cash for honours corruption scandal) it is unlikely that Hain will be charged.
His anticipated resignation followed a "thorough review" of more than £103,000 belatedly declared to the Electoral Commission. "On 29 November 2007, Peter Hain MP informed the Electoral Commission that he had not fully reported to the Commission donations he had received for his Labour Party deputy leadership campaign. Mr Hain has since met with the Commission and provided additional information about donations he received. The Electoral Commission has undertaken a thorough review of this information," the Commission said.
"Following discussions with the Metropolitan Police Service and the Crown Prosecution Service, the Electoral Commission has now referred matters to the Metropolitan Police for them to consider whether an investigation should commence," the Commission added.
Hain came to Britain after he fled Apartheid-era South Africa on suspicion of terrorism offences and he set up base in London which for decades has been a 'haven' for the world's rejects. In the 1970s he helped to create the frequently violent self-styled Anti Nazi League, apparently to oppose the National Front.
For over twenty years Hain had become well-known for his anti-British Marxist activities but he sold-out to Blair's champagne 'socialism' simply to gain the power and influence which has led to his timely demise.
