THE NATIONAL IDENTITY REGISTER THREATENS OUR FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT TO PRIVACY!

The National Identity Register (NIR) will soon be operational and the first key phase of integrating all databases held by the State is complete. Of great concern to everyone in Britain is the National Care Records Service (NCRS) and the intention of the Department of Health to upload the medical records of 50 million people onto a central database (NCRS).

The existing scheme of hardcopy medical records held by hospitals and GP surgeries has served the national community perfectly well. No one has any gripes with medical records being copied to microfilm as many hospitals have done. The same also applies to the digital records held by individual GP surgeries.

The real problem arises when a 'card carrying' pharmacist in say Aberdeen can look at the medical records of a person living in Cornwall. What is the need for this gross intrusion of privacy? How does it benefit the individual? The Government insists that an intergrated NCRS will improve NHS efficiency and has thus far wasted £12 Billion on a white elephant which is already 2 years behind schedule. The projected cost stands at around £20 Billion of our tax contributions.

The Department of Health orginally stated that anyone would be able to opt-out of the NCRS and so retain their privacy but this would come at a cost. Apparently, the individual would then receive a second-rate healthcare because his or her records were not available.

The News Alliance challenged the Department of Health with a simple question: If a patient is taken into Accident & Emergency with life-threatening injuries, would said patient be left to die on a trolley because he or she had decided to opt-out of the NCRS?

The Department of Health said 'no one will be left to die in those circumstances'. But this defeats the statement that people will receive second-rate healthcare if they opt-out of the NCRS and exposes the Department of Health of trying to blackmail and bully people into submission in a so-called democracy.

Judge Sedley favours a policy whereby the entire population of Soviet Britain is forced to give DNA samples to the 'Government'.
By his own admission, 'Judge' Sedley is a 'former' Communist but continues to propose rule by an all-powerful Police State.

The £20 Billion to be spent on this Big Brother system would have been far better spent on reducing NHS waiting lists and reducing significantly the widespread cases of MRSA infections in our hospitals. New Labour has other ideas and they are almost always the creation super systems designed to allow the State to know every detail about us. There will be no exceptions other than the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants New Labour has allowed to pour into Britain.

Coupled with the flawed proposal to introduce ID cards, apparently to combat terrorism, the National Identity Register will store every detail about every 'registered' individual in Britain. The right to opt-out has already been exposed as fraud. MI5 and regional police 'services' have already asked to see the data accrued from the NCRS and will have the 'liberty' to infringe our privacy without proper regulation.

And within months, new passport applicants will be 'invited' to interviews at local Interrogation Centres to be questioned and have their fingerprints taken like common criminals or cattle.

All the data gleaned from these unethical and unnecessary 'inquisitions' will then be uploaded to the National Identity Register'. And we are supposed to 'trust' in the very same overpaid professional liars who conned us into the illegal Iraq war....

Apparently, this gross intrusion of our civil rights is designed to protect us from terrorism but the Government has yet to present a plausible argument on how we will be protected from terrorists by handing over every detail of our lives to the overpaid minions of the State. Biometric passport screening would not have stopped the 7/7 suicide bombers.

The Government cannot explain either how ID Cards would prevent 'home-grown' terrorists from carrying out their attacks. The 7/7 suicide bombers were known to the agencies of the State, particularly MI5 and yet they were 'overlooked'. In an 'ironic' twist, the identity documents of the bombers were found in the wreckage their bombs caused. They slipped through or all security vetting and even the surveillance of MI5.

This proves beyond reasonable doubt that the introduction of biometric passports and gossly expensive ID Cards will do nothing to prevent the spread and prosecution of terrorist attacks against UK citizens borne of the greatly exaggerated 'war on terror'. But the threat of 'terrorism' provides a convenient smokescreen behind which the State can justify the elimination by stealth of our fundamental right to privacy.

There is in fact every evidence to prove that we should not trust a State which has turned lying into an art form over the last 10 years. We should all be concerned about the seemingly unstoppable advance of the total surveillance society and the abuse of our right to privacy.

The News Alliance will continue to educate and inform people of the real dangers inherent in the National Identity Register. It is becoming perfectly clear that the State will not stop until it knows every detail about every citizen - a classic warning sign of a Police State - and in Britain today "the private life is dead".
