Steve Green was appointed Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police on 24 June 2000 and took over a police 'service' with rock-bottom morale and poor crime detection rates. Green was given the task of improving crime detection rates and rebuilding morale but in seven years at the helm, he has failed to make any positive impression and his officers have no faith in his 'leadership'.

Shockingly, for three of his seven years as Chief Constable, Notts Police have been bottom of police performance tables and over the seven years of his tenure, the force has failed to move out of the bottom three worst police services in the country. On the grounds of his persistent failure it is clear that Green should have been sacked two years ago but he has been retained due to one man, County Councillor John Clarke who has demonstrated appalling judgment in keeping on Green.

Indeed, the extent of their delusions about the efficiency of Notts Police was evinced earlier this year when it was revealed that Notts Police had come third from bottom of police performance tables and this was 'heralded' as a "significant improvement" by Cllr Clarke, chairman of Notts Police Authority (NPA).

The reality of course is always stranger than fiction but both Green and Cllr Clarke simply refuse to accept the harsh truth: That Nottingham has become the gun-crime capital of Britain and in proportionate terms the city is beset with greater levels of firearms-related crime than London.

Under the incompetence of Green and Cllr Clarke the city of Nottingham has become a haven for gun-totting criminals and gangsters involved in the lucrative drugs trade. In fact, Nottingham is now in a far worse situation than before Green became Chief Constable of the County's police 'service'. It is little wonder that so much crime has festered in Nottinghamshire given the fact that the county is the best place in Britain to commit a crime as criminals realise they have a significantly reduced chance of being caught in Nottinghamshire than other areas of Britain.

Nottingham City Council took some remedial action by appointing former senior police officer Alan Given to head a team with the remit to combat crime and help rebuild the fortunes of Notts Police. And Green has had to seek help from other quarters, repeatedly running to national newspapers to bleat about the terrible situation he claims he has had to deal with.

But the reality is that Green is the author of his own misfortune and not even the intervention of the Deputy Chief Constable of West Midlands Police has taught Green any of the innate skills required for leadership. In the words of a former CID senior officer: "Steve Green is more of a 'politician' than a police officer. I had several long conversations with him during my service and he would always say that himself."

To date, Green also denies that he ordered the building of Western Europe's worst police station the Bridewell and maintains the fiction that his junior officers were responsible for the white elephant which was condemned by EU Inspectors as being overrun with rats, too hot and badly organised. But Green accepts no responsibilty for his sheer incompetence and until recently Home Office officials also refused to ditch him. His 'early retirement' at 51-years-old is due to the fact that the Notts Police Authority refused to extend his contract under a round of public opposition.

Even the city's local 'newspaper', the Nottingham Evening Post has turned a blind eye to Green's incompetence. The Post's assistant editor Neil White assured the editor of News Alliance that the newspaper would reinvestigate Green's role in the building of the Bridewell but the Post has done nothing.

Britain is fast descending into Third World style corruption and choas and the acceptance by government of under-performing and incompetent public 'servants' shows up the New Labour regime as being unfit to lead the country out of its socio-political malaise, much of it the fault of New Labour's Marxist social engineering projects which have seen British cities turned into dumping grounds for the world's humanity.

And just days after the 7/7 suicide bombings in London at a time when the whole popultation needed to be reassured, Green and Notts CPS chief Kate Carty went grovelling to the Muslim community to assure them that they would be protected from reprisals by the majority non-Muslim community of Nottinghamshire. This badly thought-out publicity 'tactic' backfired in spectacular fashion, sparking outrage across the county, generating greatly increased support for the BNP.

While these public 'servants' are inflicted on the people of Britain we can only expect to receive Third World style 'policing' and the consequent crime epidemic will go unchecked. Our lives are in their hands! Victor Bates, the husband of murder victim Marian Bates, gunned-down at the family's jewellers in the Arnold environ of Nottingham, has gone on record to condemn Steve Green as "a menace to law and order."

Under the misdirection and incompetence of the New Labour regime, crime will continue to spiral out of control and there will be many more victims of crime like the Bates family. Things are going to get a great deal worse before they improve and it is perhaps astonishing that Nottingham, the best county in Britain to commit crime due to its very poor police service, has not become a target of terrorists.

Law enforcement is a fundamentally serious issue which affects everyone and Steve Green should have been sacked in the interests of public safety. But here at News Alliance we laid even bets that bungling plod Green would be allowed to serve out his time and retire with a fat pension at the expense of taxpayers - we have now been proved right, again!

And Green's latest fantasy is that Nottingham's unacceptably high crime rate was down to one man: Colin Gunn and his crime gang. Last year Gunn was convicted of plotting the murder of Joan and John Stirland in a double execution which rightly shocked the entire nation. Whilst it is true that the Gunn gang were responsible for a large amount of Nottingham's crime, in the two years since they have been jailed, crime figures have not improved, in fact they have got worse! Green's point is not sustainable and he has again tried to blame someone else for his failures.

Indeed, his delusions extend further still in that both Green and his Asst Chief Constable Sue Fish tried to take the credit for the smashing of the powerful Gunn gang but those of us who live in the real world are only too aware of the fact that undercover officers from MI5 and the National Crime Squad brought down the Gunn gang. This is yet another classic example of Green trying and failing to steal the limelight and take the credit for pivotal work undertaken by outside agencies.

And the lastest Home Office crime figures show that Notts has the highest overall crime rate in the country - Green has now been proved to be a complete failure!
